Introducing “Inspired by Nature”: a mini-series inspired by nature

I’m so excited to begin my new creative journey: the Inspired by Nature mini-series!

Originally created out of my unique blend of seemingly opposite passions, for a long time I wasn’t sure how to combine an active, outdoor lifestyle with my deep connection to interiors. But in fact, they go hand in hand, and I can now visualise the direction of where I want to take Oakes & Co. Interiors.

I believe that the best design inspiration often comes from the great outdoors — whether it’s the vibrant colours of an autumn sunset or the soothing tones of a seaside view. And now, I’m turning those natural wonders into unique interior design masterpieces, one photo at a time!

Here’s How It Works:

Each week, I’ll ask YOU, our growing community, to submit a photo of the outdoors. It could be a snapshot of your favourite hiking trail, a blooming garden, or even a serene autumnal landscape from your weekend stroll. I’ll pick one standout image, or let you decide by poll on our Instagram stories, and I will work my magic to transform that scene into a stunning interior design mood board!

Bringing the Outdoors In

Forget about sticking to traditional earthy tones. Nature is bursting with vibrant, unexpected colours, and we’re here to celebrate them all! From the deep blues of a stormy sky to the fiery reds of autumn leaves, our designs will showcase the full spectrum of nature’s palette.

The Inspired by Nature mini-series is all about fun, creativity and connecting with nature. It’s a unique way to see how interior design can evolve with the seasons. Each mood board will reflect the current outdoor environment, so you’ll see how colours, textures, and design elements shift as the world around us changes. Imagine seeing a cosy, earthy space inspired by a foggy winter morning one week, followed by a vibrant, tropical vibe sourced from a beach photo the next!

How to Participate

It’s simple! Just follow Oakes & Co. Interiors on social media and look for our weekly Inspired by Nature photo prompt. Submit your photo, and keep an eye out to see if yours is chosen. Not only will you get to see how your picture inspires a new design, but you’ll also discover endless possibilities for transforming your own home!
